The Medical Research Agency (MRA) has announced an open call for non-commercial clinical trials evaluating medicinal products.

Call Objective
The primary objective of the call is to support non-commercial clinical trials evaluating medicinal products. Projects should expand knowledge on the effectiveness and optimal clinical use of therapies across a broad spectrum of diseases.
Particular emphasis is placed on areas with significant unmet medical needs, including rare diseases and dementia.
What types of projects can be submitted?
projects meeting the definition of a non-commercial clinical trial of a medicinal product;
projects evaluating the effectiveness and use of therapies in clinical practice;
projects addressing important unmet healthcare needs;
projects submitted in either Polish or English.
CWBK GUMed invites physicians and researchers interested in developing their own non-commercial clinical trial projects to get in touch — including early-career investigators under the age of 40 who would like to begin working in this field.

The Clinical Research Support Centre at the Medical University of Gdańsk supports research teams during both the preparation and implementation of non-commercial clinical trial projects.
administrative and organisational support;
assistance with project documentation preparation;
coordination of formal aspects of the application process;
support for teams beginning their clinical research activities.
Internal Project Submission to CWBK GUMed
Teams interested in preparing a proposal under the ABM/2026/2 call are asked to submit preliminary project applications to CWBK GUMed by 9 June 2026.
The submission should include:
a draft study protocol including, among others, statistical calculations, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a schedule of activities;
a scientific rationale describing the study population, objectives, planned assessments and clinical significance of the project;
biostatistical assumptions, including sample size justification;
preliminary budget assumptions, including an estimated budget framework and anticipated additional expenses such as specialised procedures, equipment or other items requiring prior cost estimation.
Project Evaluation by CWBK
Submitted projects will undergo internal review by CWBK GUMed by 15 June 2026.
An internal CWBK committee will select projects recommended for further development within the call. Proposals will be assessed in three key categories:
Feasibility
assessment of the project’s practicality from organisational, clinical and operational perspectives.
Clinical Relevance
evaluation of the project’s importance for patients, clinical practice and unmet healthcare needs.
Innovation
assessment of the scientific value of the project and its potential to generate new knowledge relevant to medical practice.
